media, performance, and politics
I think the destructive vicious negative nature of much of the Republican party makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to participate in the primaries and caucuses. I’m appalled a presidential campaign would turn on a topic like contraception.
Let me finish. Every person in here knows personal pain. Every person in here has had someone close to them go through painful things. To take contraception and wrap it in religious freedom and make it two days before the primary, a significant question in a presidential campaign, is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine.
America’s Muslim sons and daughters made the point that it was wrong, that the Catholic Church and GOP should pull it, that they only talk about religious freedom when it’s their own, but they are in the front line doing the trampling when it comes to the rights of Muslims, and I am, frankly, astounded that the liberal media would take trash like that and use it to open up a presidential debate to the likes and bigotry of those who would elect Rick Santorum.
